Nkhensani Mkhari
The activations for Zibuyile ZInkisi primarily focus on rituals of healing and consecration. This ritual is not completed with an end goal in mind; rather, the solution is the process itself - a constant catalyst for renewal. By being the process of change, an attentive and adaptive practice can produce drastic transformation. The activation ceremony takes place at sites that call for consecration and healing in Fellbach, through an AR projection of the Nkisi (https://www.instagram.com/ar/224113369442873) into these spaces and an incantation activating the Nkisi’s powers to facilitate this process of transformation. Each participant will need a smartphone and instagram to participate.
The first activation will happen at the opening of the Fellbach Triennale and the second on the Saturday following the opening in the town of Fellbach.
Nkhensani Mkhari describes their work as a queer meditation on transience, aesthetic sociology and redemptive futurologies; an abstract machine that nomadically migrating contemporary culture. Exploring what individuality is, what collectivity is and what it means to share space. A study of migration, myth and cultural practices of (re)memory rooted in counteractive ways of seeing and hearing.
